LOG 07 · QUINN

Your financial control room, rebuilt as an AI agent.

Client · Quinn · AI CFO agent for SMEs · founder-led build

Engagement · Hands-on technical partner and CTO · 2026

When a domain expert builds with AI, an entire product category becomes a one-person build, and the month-end close stops being a monthly fire drill.

Robin Wallaart · Quinn

The brief

Every small and mid-sized business runs its finances across a sprawl of disconnected tools and spreadsheets, with no single place that ties day-to-day operations to the forward-looking view. The sharpest version of that pain arrives once a month, at the month-end close: reconciliation by hand, numbers chased across systems, tribal-knowledge checklists, reports that land late and leadership still guessing about cash flow. It is slow, it is error-prone and it repeats every single month, a direct and recurring headache for the entrepreneurs living it.

The build

Quinn is a financial control room: one workspace, wired directly into the accounting a business already runs, bringing daily finance operations and the forward-looking view together. It is in production on real client books today, and it earns its place by starting where the pain is sharpest and most repeatable, the month-end close.

  • Starts with the close: the most repeatable and most universal finance pain, run end to end as a guided checklist, with a human in the loop wherever judgement or money is on the line.
  • Gives the hours back: by automating the reconciliation, the chasing and the report build, it takes days of monthly close work down to a guided run in hours.
  • Sits on top of the books you already keep: it connects to the bookkeeping software a business already runs, with no rip-and-replace and no migration.
  • Brings the data across cleanly: Quinn pulls the figures over deterministically, so the existing books stay the single source of truth and every number is traceable and auditable.
  • Gets smarter every month: Quinn surfaces why the close stalls, the recurring blockers in your process, so each cycle runs smoother and more of the guesswork comes out of cash flow.

Finance time saved on every month-end close, our estimate: the reconciliation, chasing and report build, automated.

Finance time given back each month

Finance person can own a close that used to take a small team.

The result

  • In production on real company books, not a prototype: deterministic extraction, an authoritative source of record and human sign-off make it auditable from day one.
  • Gives finance its time back: the reconciliation, chasing and report build automated, so days of monthly close work become a guided run in hours.
  • Pays for itself on the hours alone, our conservative estimate: well over €1k of finance time given back a month against a running cost near €500, and far more once it offsets a finance hire.
  • A wedge that opens a platform: start with the close, then expand into the full financial control room, one workspace where daily operations and the forward-looking view live together.

Debrief

The one-person build is the headline, but the point is what it produces: a finance-grade agent running in production on real books, not a demo. The fastest-moving products in 2026 are not built by the biggest teams, they are built by a domain expert and the right AI. Quinn is a corporate-finance leader and fractional CFO who knew exactly where the close breaks, and used Claude to build and ship the agent that fixes it.

The economics are the easy part to sell. A finance hire costs many times what the agent does to run, so giving a small team its close back, days of work down to hours, more than offsets a cost in the region of €1k a month. Start with the sharpest pain, then own the whole room: the month-end close is the wedge, repeatable and universal and felt directly by every entrepreneur, and from there Quinn grows into the full financial control room, the same domain-expertise-plus-AI pattern a hands-on partner takes to production.
